Creating Hope Through Equine-Assisted Healing

horse

At the edge of the ridge where the sky meets the rolling hills, The Ranch at Spirit Ridge Farm was born – not just from soil and wood, but from a calling. A calling to heal. To connect. To remind people of their worth. Founded as a safe haven for horses and humans alike, The Ranch at Spirit Ridge Farm grew from a quiet pasture into a place of profound transformation. Horses live in truth. They don’t care about your job title, your past mistakes, or your social mask. They respond to your energy, your authenticity. They mirror what’s real. Here, horses who have been discarded or forgotten find a second chance – and so do the people who come to walk among them. Veterans, first responders, trauma survivors, seekers – all drawn by something unspoken yet deeply felt, and through equine-assisted learning, we help them find that.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a safe and healing environment where Veterans, First Responders, other trauma survivors, and members of our community can reconnect, rebuild, and restore their sense of self with the powerful partnership with horses. Through equine-assisted learning, we cultivate leadership skills, resilience, trust, teamwork, and personal growth—empowering participants to foster hope, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges and move toward wholeness.

Why Horses

Horses are highly sensitive to human emotions and can mirror the feelings of their handlers. Horses provide a non-judgemental and calming presence, which can be comforting for those who have experienced trauma.

Interacting with horses involves non-verbal communication and assertiveness, which can enhance personal relationships and social skills The physical aspect of caring for and working with horses can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, contributing to overall mental well-being.

Volunteering

Volunteers experience the satisfaction of knowing that they have made a difference in a riders life. If not for our volunteers, these riders would be denied the opportunity to experience the benefits that can improve their quality of life.

A desire to give back and help someone else is what drives our volunteers; it is gratifying to see the progress the participants make in their abilities; What a great group of volunteers the center has!

Vision Statement

We envision a world where Veterans, First Responders, trauma survivors, and others seeking personal growth find strength, healing, and renewed purpose through transformative connections with horses. We strive to cultivate a supportive community that fosters resilience, restores trust, and empowers each individual to thrive beyond their experiences with trauma.
